You can use this service to obtain reference-quality digital scans of our special collections of manuscripts, rare books, archival collections and Oxford University theses. This service is available to all.

How to order images
You can request scans by completing the order form (PDF). If you do not know the shelfmark(s) and page/folio numbers of the material you wish to have copied, please contact us first and we will help you find what you are looking for. Specialist curatorial help will be on hand if required.
We provide scans as PDF files at sufficient resolution for transcription and basic analysis, with simple metadata (shelfmark and folios).
Exceptions
Some items are unavailable for legal, conservation or other reasons. If the material cannot be scanned, we will suggest alternatives if available.
What does it cost?
The service is free to current members of Oxford University. For all others there is a charge of £1 per scan (or £100 for a complete thesis). See our order form for further details.
How long will it take?
Orders have an average turnaround time of 10 working days, but certain types of material may take longer.
