Using the Humanities Library

Admission

The Humanities Library is open to all University card holders and Bodleian Reader card holders. 

If you are not a member of the University, find out more about how to apply for a Bodleian Reader card.

If you are a University member, you will be able to borrow most of the library collections, unless they are specified for ‘Library Use Only’. 

Access 

The library is currently open daily for members of the Humanities Division and Oxford Internet Institute, and students on Joint Schools in Philosophy.

For other University members and Bodleian Reader card holders, the library is currently open Monday – Friday.

Please check opening hours before you visit. 

Information about 24/7 student access to the library’s ground floor spaces will be published in due course. In the meantime, please send enquiries to humlib@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.

Rules and regulations

The Bodleian Libraries Regulations and Rules of Conduct apply in this library. 

Food and drinks are not allowed in the library, except for bottled water or hot drinks in KeepCups.

• The library reading rooms are spread across three floors, with collections on the first and second floors. Step-free access is available via a lift.
