The RSL Disability Liaison works closely with the Bodleian Libraries Disability Librarian and the University's Disability Advisory Service. We encourage readers to disclose their disabilities to the Disability Advisory Service to make full use of the extra library support available. After you have contacted the Disability Advisory Service, they can make an official referral to the Bodleian Libraries. Find out more about the support and services available for disabled readers.

Facilities and equipment

Furniture

The library has four height-adjustable desks in each of the two reading rooms. The large study room (John Kidd Room) in the basement also has four height-adjustable desk and ergonomic chairs. This room can be booked via our online booking system.

Study carrels

Our individual study carrels are on the lower ground floor. They are small sound-proofed rooms for one person to work in. There are three standard-size and one large accessible study carrel.

Eligible students registered with the Disability Advisory Service can book the carrels for up to 20 hours per week via the link provided to them by the Bodleian Disability Librarian.

All other readers can use the carrels on a first-come, first-served basis, with an understanding they may be asked to find alternative seating if the carrel has been booked. You can check the availability of each individual study carrel via the QR code on the door.
