Borrowing

The Nizami Ganjavi Library allows current staff and students of Oxford University to borrow items. Find out more about borrowing from Bodleian Libraries, including your borrowing allowances, automatic renewals, returns, managing your loans, and lost items.

Most of our collections can be borrowed, except items marked as 'confined', which can only be used in the library.

Print, Copy and Scan (PCAS)

There is a PCAS-enabled device in this library for self-service printing, copying and scanning. Find out more about using PCAS in the Bodleian Libraries and how to top up your account.

Connect to library Wi-Fi

The Bodleian Libraries offer several Wi-Fi networks, including ‘Bodleian-Libraries’ for University and Bodleian Reader card holders, and ‘eduroam’ for members of educational institutions. Find out more about how to connect.

Use library computers

The library has 7 PCs for readers to use. The 2 ‘kiosk’ terminals can be used for catalogue searches and e-resource access. The 5 library PCs have internet access and a suite of standard software.

The library also has 4 external screens that readers can connect to laptops, either with USB-C or HDMI cables. There are 2 screens in the main reading room and 2 on the lower ground floor.

Find out more about how to use library computers and the software available.

Inter-library requests

The Nizami Ganjavi Library accepts requests from other UK libraries for photocopies of articles in books and journals. The library does not lend books or journals. The library does not take part in the International Inter-Library Loan Scheme.

The requesting library should send the request by email (ngl-enquiries@bodleian.ox.ac.uk) with details of the article or chapter required. If this is not known, we can send a photocopy of the relevant contents page(s). Please include the library's request number and BLDSC account number. The charge for the service will be the current BLDSC rate for photocopies.

For University members, further information about inter-library loans can be found on the Bodleian’s inter-library request page

Request and reserve items

You can request or reserve items held in the Bodleian Libraries bookstacks and have them delivered to this library. Find out more about how to request items. Bodleian Offsite Storage books are delivered once a day, Monday to Friday. Items ordered by 10.30am should arrive in the afternoon delivery. Please check SOLO to confirm an item’s loan status.

Microform

A microfiche/microfilm reader is available for use in the library.

Book transfer service

A system for transferring confined material from the Nizami Ganjavi Library to the Art, Archaeology and Ancient World Library on Fridays during term, Weeks 1–8, is now in place. This enables readers to consult confined material over the weekend (when the NGL is closed). Items transferred in this way will be returned to the NGL by 10am on the following Monday. Transfer requests should be made at the NGL Issue Desk or by email to ngl-enquiries@bodleian.ox.ac.uk by 4pm on Fridays. Transfers will be limited to 8 items per reader.
