Access

There is no designated disabled parking. There is on-street parking in Winchester Road (200 yards from the centre). Please display your blue badge.

The Bodleian Latin American Centre Library occupies the ground floor and basement of the Latin American Centre. The entrance to the main library and seminar room is from Church Walk via a flight of seven steps. There is a ramped entrance at the rear of building, which gives access to basement stacks.

Within the building, there are 12 steps to the basement, with a landing after 3 steps. There are handrails on both sides before the landing, then on the right if you are going downstairs.

Please contact us to discuss access to the library in advance.

Services and support

If needed, we can arrange tailored one-to-one user education and induction sessions. Please contact Frank Egerton to discuss your requirements.

Staff are happy to help by bringing books down to the stack (basement). Alternatively, you can ask to have books set aside for later collection by a helper.

Contact the library if you need to discuss access to reference materials. It may be possible to arrange for them to be transferred to a more convenient location. Under special circumstances, some reference material may be borrowed on a short loan, subject to permission from the librarians.

The following equipment is available in this library:

  • a portable induction loop is available from the Library Office (first floor)
  • a hand magnifier (5.5-inch width)
  • a small selection of A4 coloured acetate sheets.

If you have a query about supporting equipment and materials, please contact library staff.
